🢂 THE BRIEF

Our client, an international business process outsourcing and professional services company, had several London-based contracts which they began delivering for customers in 2021/22. However, they were yet to begin delivering on their social value commitments to the Authorities.

Account Directors were unsure of what they had offered in their tender submissions, and lacked expertise with regard to social value, and due to a lack of reported activity, some customers began asking the company for status updates on social value programmes. 

At this time, the Social Value Manager had recently left the organisation, meaning that they had no resource internally to move things forwards. 

Samtaler was commissioned to provide support in reviewing and coordinating social value activity, and act as an interim Social Value Manager and Executive resource for the business.

🢂 THE APPROACH

Consultants at Samtaler were immediately onboarded to fill the required positions over 6 months. 

We: 

• Conducted a review of each tender submission, identifying all commitments to each Authority, and associated reporting metrics.

• Reviewed each commitment, flagging areas of concern/priority for Account Directors.

• Met with each Authority to kick-off social value activity, and to understand their priorities.

• Produced a commitment tracker and template for monitoring and reporting on delivery of the revised commitments for each Authority. 

• Provided on-boarding/mentoring support to the newly-hired Social Value resource within the business to share knowledge and best practice moving forwards. 

• Supported in the early stages of social value strategy development for the organisation, by identifying internal stakeholders to be interviewed, and assisting in conducting the interviews.
